🕶️ Why This Noir Still Works
- Against-Type Casting: Rooney reverses his wholes-American image, into a dark troubled figure.
- Eerie Presence by Peter Lorre: Lorre injects sleaze and tension into the underworld subplay.
- Classic Noir Aesthetic: Darkness in the city, grey morality and down-to-the-wire decisions all combine to make this a classic noir experience.
- Brief and Brisk: Quicksand maintains the tension at a very low level and keeps the pacing quick at approximately 80 minutes.
