Mike Blake (Glenn Ford) is an American paratrooper who visits France after the second world war in an attempt to get a jewel-covered glove that had been stolen in a country church during the war. During his search, he encounters a beautiful young tour guide (Geraldine Brooks) and a Nazi accomplice (George Macready) who he had battled in the war.
