Plot Overview

The story takes place in early 19 th century France in which Lt. Andre Duvalier (Jack Nicholson) is a French soldier who loses his regiment.

As he wanders around the Baltic Sea, Andre meets a mysterious woman by the name Helene (Sandra Knight). She comes and then disappears and then comes back, acting like a seductress caught in between the worlds.

Attracted to her, Andre trails her to a decaying castle on the sea belonging to the old and distressed Baron Von Leppe (Boris Karloff). Andre is informed that Helene is dead – and he had seen her.

Andre as he investigates finds out the secrets of betrayal, witchcraft, and guilt. An evil old witch Katrina is playing the game, and she uses the ghostly woman to haunt the Baron.

But it is soon that Andre understands that he is in a trap of the supernatural where the dead never rest and the living are haunted by the sins. The movie progresses to a chilly climax that was under the castle where reality meets horror.
