Full Plot Summary
The novel revolves around Harold Dunlap who is a killer who has run out of the crime scene. Trying to escape, he hides in a small town and only to discover that he is sharing a boarding place with the only witness who knows him.
In a bid to escape the detection, Dunlap becomes part of the home but the tension builds up as the truth gradually reveals itself. Every encounter becomes tighter and tighter when paranoia and fear set in. Dunlap starts losing his hold with a psychic giving foreboding warnings and the witness taking a nap, oblivious to his proximity, a few feet away.
As suspicion and danger draw nearer, the film brings the viewers to a certain face-off, and it is the one where guilt and fate stand against each other in all the aspects of a true noir.
