🤠 Overview

Western favorite Bob Steele and movie star George, known as Gabby, Hayes join forces in Galloping Romeo (1933) to tell a rattling story of stagecoach robbery and western justice. Directed by Robert N. Bradbury, the author of the movie, which is a Pre-Code Western, is a combination of typical action and a smart mystery: what is happening with money that is disappearing out of a locked trunk that is not opened?

Brawls, bandits, and a touch of humor make this Monogram Pictures release a respectable offering to the old school of cowboy entertainment.

🐴 Plot Summary

🎥 Why Watch Galloping Romeo?

unciation Classic Western Whodunit- A locked trunk and lost money? That’s a frontier mystery!

🔫 Real Cowboy Action – horse run, gun fights, saloon gun battle.

Pre-Code Grit – These movies were made prior to the Hays Code crackdown, so they will have fewer polished edges and fewer enforced rules.

ic Western Legends Early parts of Bob Steele and Gabby Hayes before they were made genre icons.

📽️ Fun Facts

Bob Steele was in fact the son of real-life director Robert N. Bradbury, who introduced his son to Western film acting.

George, or Gabby, Hayes was not yet that tough-guy sidekick whom we all recall–this is one of his first parts before his best-known-role, Gabby, was born.

Produced inexpensively and in haste, Galloping Romeo is an excellent example of early B-Westerns of the 1930s that were wildly popular with the countryside population.
