Inside Information is a lean, fast-paced, crime mystery film that was made in the golden age of noir-style films. The film by Charles Lamont who mainly worked in comedies and westerns is a gritty and suspenseful insight in to the criminal underworld and the police officers who are bent on bringing it down.
This film, originally known as Metropolitan Police at the time of its production, demonstrates the undercover activities, shadowy deals, and justice-served, all old Hollywood.
📝 Plot Summary
Danny Blake (Dick Foran) is a detective with a chip on his shoulder-and a nose on the crime. He is required to go undercover when the city is shaken by a series of murder cases related to the mob so as to crack the case wide open.
Captain Bill Dugan (Harry Carey) assists him, he is a veteran of the force, and believes the instincts of Danny. They begin unraveling strata of a criminal plot together that takes them directly to the corruptions of high society.
When Danny comes close to Kathleen Burke (June Lang) who is neither a whore nor a woman, he discovers a perilous liaison between her and Banford, aka Max Stockton (Addison Richards) at the core of the operation. Danny has little time left to make a decision on what extent he can go in order to extract justice within the system.
